It’s Sunday, a new week is about to begin and that means that it’s time for Sunday Inspiration. This week I was feeling introspective and Van Gogh is always the artist I seek when I’m creatively reflective rather than active.
Van Gogh’s images always crush me with their pathos laden beauty leaving me in wonder and tinged with a quite longing for silence and solitude yet unable to tear myself away from the dazzling swirls and human lives that he so clearly depicted. Each of Van Gogh’s paintings tell a tale both personal and societal, perhaps like all good art should whether it is pictorial, written or musical it takes us on a journey. But Van Gogh never leaves us in any doubt that much of the personal narrative that he paints reflects his own turbulent and troubled mind, one that was not understood then and perhaps by many still isn’t. It was this painting of his that particularly inspired me this week.
So this weeks Sunday inspiration to give all you writers out there a creative boost is:
Who else would have seen the darkness in my soul?
