Sunday Inspiration – Week 3

So this weeks one line prompt to inspire us to get writing was

Thousands of hot bodies packed into the square

So without further ado, here is this weeks submission from me.

Thousands of hot bodies packed into the square pushing and shoving forward towards the stage set before Nelson’s Column. The clamour of noise, the frenzy of desire to be near the frail leader filled the air with a deafening roar that reverberated against the high barriers set around the square’s parameter and rolled back over the audience like a frenetic wave.

Our last chance to touch him, to be blessed. This thought pressed them forward till their sticky skin that had waited under the roasting sun stuck against the sweat drenched backs of the adoring followers in front. Forward. Forward they pushed, each person swept towards the stage by the crowd behind still attempting to enter into the square. The thick wire fence standing between the serene figure on the stage and the baiting crowd now begun to bulge as the front row of followers were slowly crushed against it. Their screams dissipated to a silent horror paced across their faces amid the devoted wailing of the adoring crowd.
